Extremely Rare Very Large 1920s Vintage Depollier Wristwatch 

The gold plated hinged back engraved case measures 40mm from lug tip to lug tip and 26mm wide without the crown.   The case has some plating wear and some minor dents and distortions that do not affect the great look on the wrist.  The domed glass crystal looks like a recent replacement.  Overall the case is in very good condition.   Fitted with a new ostrich textured leather strap.

The dial looks original with expanded Deco numerals.  The hands are also original and have been re-umed sometime in the distant past.  The dial shows some aging but is in overall very good condition.

Beautifully finished 15 jewel Depolier signed movement is adjusted to 3 positions and has a very early shock protection system.   Shock protected balances are particularly important in wristwatches because they are subject to a lot of irregular motion on a wrist.   The issue is not so much protecting the balance assembly from damage but keeping the balance in beat so it remains accurate.  You see the same shock protection system in some early Ditisheim movements.
